CT Scans of people who were exposed to asbestos might aid in discovering Mesothelioma. This process has proved to be more favorable in finding cancer in high-risk smokers than compared with x-rays. The study aims to figure out if CT scans would indeed identify mesothelioma and lung cancer onset in a community exposed to asbestos.

Italian researchers gathered 1,000 people who participated in the study, all of them having encountered asbestos before. The results showed a greater efficiency of CT scans in detecting lung cancer than x-rays. Although no mesothelioma conditions were found in the study the researchers nevertheless confirmed the importance of CT scans when examining a high-risk population for Mesothelioma.
